Holistic Pulsing is a gentle and safe therapy that is suited to people of all ages and most health conditions.

How it works

Holistic Pulsing works with the natural rhythms of the body and particularly, the cardiac, respiratory and cranio-sacral rhythms.  It also utilises the high fluid content of our bodies to generate harmony on multiple levels and has a powerful balancing effect on our energies.  The freedom of movement encouraged brings awareness to energy blocks and ultimately, can facilitate exploration and release of these blockages, resulting in full therapeutic benefit.  As a therapy it is transformational, revitalising, empowering and inspiring.

Some of the overall aims of holistic pulsing are to encourage you to expand inner awareness, to reintegrate and to develop self-acceptance and self-responsibility.  The pulser is merely a facilitator of this process and remains open, present and accepting to allow a synergistic flow of healing energy.

The awareness of energy flow (or blockages) that arises from the pulsing encourages a sense of personal responsibility that enables you to reclaim your own power of healing by choosing to let go of that resistance.

What it does

Holistic Pulsing brings awareness, acceptance and empowerment.  It is your choice how far to take this consciousness.  Since it is a truly holistic therapy, it has something to offer everyone.

What happens in a session

First we establish your intention for the session.  This can be anything - from general relaxation to focus on a specific issue.  You then lie fully clothed on the massage table while the pulser uses rocking techniques to create a wave-like motion through your body.  This amplifies your inner flow and creates a feeling of awareness, integration and wholeness. The pulse utilises your own flow and rhythm, so is deeply and rapidly soothing to your nervous system and provides a wonderful feeling of safety and peace.  The session concludes with time for you to integrate the changes that have occurred.

Holistic Pulsing works on many levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual - but it is entirely your choice as to how much you wish to experience.  Holistic Pulsing allows you to take responsibility for your own healing in a safe, supportive environment, at the pace that is right for you.

Where it started

Holistic Pulsing was developed in New Zealand by Tovi Browning, a graduate Osteopath and Naturopath of the British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy.  As a modality, it has been influenced by aspects of Reichian-style bodywork, bioenergetic techniques from Alexander Lowen and the principles of lengthening and expanding from Mathias Alexander.  Trager bodywork, cranial osteopathy and naturopathy have also contributed to the emergence of holistic pulsing.
